Cruiser Quilt Donation
Friday, April 30, 2010
Ruth Hampson
On April 14, 2010, Brian Coleman and Steve Smith of the Citrus County Sheriff’s Department visited the monthly meeting of the Creative Quilters of Citrus County, where 80 cruiser quilts were donated. Most times the quilts are given to children, but also to teens and the elderly. The guild members were reminded that there is a great need for these quilts, and that their group is the only one on the west side of the county that consistently contributes new items to the department.

Beth Dombek, workshop leader, and member Faith Orr, take a moment from their work on a Convergence Quilt.

The March workshop for Creative Quilters was making a Ricky Tims Convergence Quilt. This is Tims imaginative piecing technique using two fabrics cut into strips, sewn together, then cut and pieced a second time. The class was led by Beth Dombek, an active member of the Lake Miona Quilters in the Villages and excellent teacher.
